Carson turned ONE on December 27th, 2012.
What an amazing and tough year it has been.
We celebrated his birthday on December 29th, 2012 with a Dr. Seuss themed party that turned out incredible!
I wish I had taken more pictures of everyone there. I was so consumed in making sure everyone had food and drinks and everything like that that I did not get to take a ton of picture.
We did a Dr. Suess theme because I personally grew up reading all the books. All the Places You’ll Go is one of my all time favorites and with Carson’s heart it makes his future so special. I hope that he will go in all the directions of his dreams and never settle for anything less than amazing.
We really got into the theme. Nick looked up names and we named all of our food accordingly.
Cesar Salad-Grickle Grass Salad
Pasta Salad-Oodles with Noodles
Potato Salad-Mr. Potters Potato Salad
Deviled Eggs and Ham-Green Eggs and Ham
Sandwiches-Roast Beast Sandwiches
Jello wish Swedish Fish-One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue…Water
Drinks-Pink Ink Yink Drink
And our Candy-Bar was WhoVille
This amazing cake was made by an amazing women named Gina from Fontana. She didnt tell me the name of her bakery but holy crap is she talented!
We got the cake through a selfless organization called Icing Smiles. They are like a middle man who puts ill kids (or their siblings) in touch with bakers who create a dream cake for their celebration. This is a link to their website. They are always looking for donations to help keep their organization alive and running. http://www.icingsmiles.org/Site/Welcome.html
I cannot say enough nice things about Icing Smiles and Gina. You guys are amazing angels on earth who have helped to make Carson’s first Birthday one we will never forget and one we will tell him about always.
I made the banner out of scrap book paper and painted the letters myself. I taped the ‘flags’ to fishing line and taped the fishing line up.
We did streamers from wall to wall then taped them up in the middle and strung balloons on a string and taped that up as well.
Thank God for Christmas and all the empty wrapping paper rolls. We made the ‘tree trunks’ out of them and wrapped them with yellow tissue paper and then black streamers.
We made the trees out of tissue paper and taped those up as well.
We made a banner of his first year from the time he was born till 11 months. It was so cute to see how he has grown, everyone loved it.
Gina was amazing and made Carson a smash cake as well.
He was so excited that everyone was singing to him.
He was so into that cake! It was delicious and he loved everyone cheering him on.
After cake we opened gifts. Originally we were just going to open a few because he wasnt to into opening gifts but then everyone kept saying “open ours.” So we did. He got the greatest gifts. He got a bunch of adorable clothes and some pretty awesome toys.
Thank you to everyone who came and helped celebrate our baby boy turning 1!!
